In a recent statement on the dangers of strangulation in horizontal window blinds, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Window Covering Safety Council recommend that consumers with young children consider cordless blinds.

Cordless blinds and shades are safer for children and pets because the outer lift cords have been replaced by a spring motor system, eliminating strangulation hazards.

In an effort to give the consumer the safety of its patented cordless technology in a wider range of fashionable window covering choices, Levolor is developing additional products.

A leader in the window coverings industry, Levolor has always been pro-active in the development of solutions to make blinds more safe. In 2000, Levolor designed a cord-stop device, which when attached to the lift cords, eliminates the potential of injury to children.
